In this program you learn a wide range of different STEAM fields such as coding, aerodynamics, space, marine biology and so much more. The last day of camp is an overnight stay at the museum with all the friends you’ve made over the summer with a fresh gourmet breakfast and the ceremony to celebrate your completion of the program (obviously things will be different with Covid but this is what usually happens). When participating in this program, you are opened up to many more internships and opportunities at the Intrepid Museum, some paid!

This program is a FREE specifically for Latinx and Black students in NYC (or Oakland, CA) that takes place year round at the Google Headquarters at Chelsea in Manhattan or in Harlem if that is more accessible to you (it is currently virtual with Covid). Throughout the school year you participate in clubs, workshops and community events all centered around coding and computer science. Clubs are about 9 weeks long (you participate in one every term), once a week where you dig deeper into a specific topic that you are interested in and work with professionals from Google. Workshops are just once where you can learn a wide variety of topics from Career Readiness to Firebases. Depending on your grade you are also eligible to receive a mention from Google help guide you in any way you need. There is so much more to do with Google Code Next and is a great program if you are interested in coding or want to learn more about it.

Kode with Klossy is a FREE 2 week long camp over the summer for 13-18 year olds and is focused on teaching people who identify as femme or non-binary an opportunity to lore more about Web Development OR Mobile App Development. Created my model Karlie Kloss, she wanted to create a space for young women and non-binary folks to express theirselves with coding especially since the field is dominated with men. You don’t need any experience in STEM or coding to apply. Although 2 weeks might sound like a short amount of time, you learn so much and build a bond with people that will last a lifetime.
